Sneak Peek #1...

I am currently working through probably the FINAL editing session of my own before sending my manuscript off for beta reading.
Therefore, I believe it's time I start sharing some excerpts of my novel as I go along. In hopes of getting some curiosity sparking and interest in the story.
Here we go....
“Sarah, I’m heading out!” I yell towards the kitchen, hoping to notify my roommate. Her voice muffled in response. Hastily grabbing my car keys off the hook near the front door, I exit, shutting it without locking. We never lock the front door. It’s a habit that’s stuck for the past four years of living together. My heels click on the marble floor, making my way to the elevator a couple of meters from our door as I hear footsteps approach my right side. I turn to see our gorgeous next-door neighbor, his smile piercing my heart.
“Hey Joey.” he cooly says my name as I take a second to admire his tight white t-shirt and scruffy facial hair.
“Hello, Damon.” Even his name is arousing. I feel my knees tremble through my response.
“Off to a date or something?” Raising his eyebrow, as he reaches forward to push the down button. Didn’t realize I had yet to do it myself.
“You know where I’m going,” I smirk, turning to face the lift.
“Well, you look great.” Sensing admiration in his voice, and his eyes burning into me. He refuses I leave his sight when the elevator dings and we drag our feet inside.
“Thanks,” I whisper, the doors closing behind us. The sound of faint music fills my ears, numbing the uncomfortable silence. I turn and catch him staring at me.
“What’s wrong-” I don’t finish my question before his lips are on mine, tongue pushing its way in as his body shoves me against the back wall. He takes my hands and guides them above my head, our fingers intertwining. I moan softly as the elevator rings again, notifying us of the main floor landing. Backing away, his green eyes stare far beyond my gaze and into my thoughts. My breathing is deep and his gawk doesn’t break. My cheeks get warm as my hands fix the dress and run through my hair, making sure I don’t look a mess after those twenty seconds of public passion. Before I know it, I look up and Damon is gone. Was that a daydream? Snapping out of oblivion as I step out of the elevator, the sound of my heels on the marble floor returns. A throat clears to my left, distracting me as I turn and see him standing outside the mailroom, eyes still fixated on me. He subtly smiles and winks and I clear my throat, wink back, and head out the main doors. I understand our history, but it has been weeks since our last interaction. It’s almost as if he timed this perfectly. I think back to some of our more romantic memories, but snap out of it as I approach my white 2004 Honda Accord. I settle into the driver’s seat, start the ignition and listen as the music fades into the leather of the car, the vibrations anticipating my goods. I close my eyes and try to break free from the prison of questionable intensity I just experienced.
“Snap out of it, Jo,” I whisper to myself, opening my eyes as I drive off to my destination.
If you're still here, I'm so thankful you are!
Keep your eyes open for more excerpts to come!
